It makes coming home seem like… coming home!
When you’ve just come off a long flight, what a relief it is to have a good experience with ground transportation—a timely bus, a courteous driver, comfortable seats, a smooth ride home. That’s what Marin Airporter strives to provide.
Here’s a story sent to us by a recent passenger:
“It would be nice to take for granted that a bus will wait for me as I run along the platform. But that’s not been my experience, at least not with every bus, everywhere. So last week, as I exited the SFO terminal and saw the familiar rainbow Marin Airporter bus a short way down the platform, I feared that at any moment, I would see it pull out from the curb. Wouldn’t that be just my luck!
“So, with my roller bag swinging behind me, I took off at a run. I noticed the doors were closed. Everyone was aboard already.
“Then, midway down the platform, there was a gentleman standing with his back turned, blocking my way, talking on his phone. “Excuse me, sir!” I called out three times; and he never turned, never moved. I had to bounce down into the roadway to get around him.
“When I reached the bus, I couldn’t see the driver, so I knocked on the door. A few seconds later, he appeared, smiling. He welcomed me, kidding that he’d have to revise his head count now, and asking my destination.
“ ‘Anderson,’ I wheezed. He took my bag and stowed it in the proper place. I thanked him for waiting. He nodded and smiled again.
“I boarded and found my way to an empty seat, where I could take stock of the past few minutes:
“My delight in seeing the bus. My adventure with the oblivious gentleman on his cell phone. And finally, my driver, welcoming me on, even though I slowed him down. Most of all, the courteous driver who got me on board quickly and safely for my final leg toward home.
“Courtesy is contagious. It makes for a great travel experience. That’s what I got on Marin Airporter. Thank you!”
